Eddie “The Honey Badger” Burns 2-2 Hit Squad, Hull vs Joel Bassnett 2-1 Engine Room Boxing, Liverpool

BFC4 Bout 9

An amateur MMA bout at 61kg Bantamweight

Joel is a southpaw slugger.

Using single punches and kicks to wear on his opponent.

Eddie switched stances, but settled as orthodox. Suffering from the punishment he was able to catch a teep kick and force Bassnett to the canvas.

From there Joel was not able to regain his feet until the horn paused the action.

Round 2

Feeling that his advantage was in the grappling, Eddie pursued and got a takedown early in the round.

He worked from top half guard or the guard of Joel. Just before the clapper Bassnett was able to break free and escape to standing. Pressing forward he landed two heavy body kicks before the horn halted the action once again.

Round 3

Eddie again chased the clinch and a takedown. Expertly, during a scramble, Joel was able to take the back of his opponent. He got both hooks in, but Burns stayed calm and escaped and established a dominant position.

Eddie worked from top guard until the final horn.

Tough, close fight. Two quality prospects, the superior wrestling and ground control of Burns just pipped the sharp striking and good ground skills of Bassnett.

A unanimous decision for The Honey Badger.
