Francis N’Gannou vs Stipe Miocic
The greatest champion against the scariest challenger. Muscles don’t win fights, but they are a big equaliser! Two big men, but a lighter Stipe in a smaller octagon!
Round1:
Patience from both, the first significant punch landed was from N’Gannou to Miocic’s temple. Then patience. Your first takedown is your best, fastest, strongest. He got the snatch single on Francis’s lead leg, but could not complete the move. N’Gannou was able to put his foot on the outside, and then back to the floor and sprawled out. Miocic had let go of that tree trunk thigh. Francis span and took Stipe’s back. Somehow surviving a storm of strikes Stipe rose to his feet, found space and escaped. Patience again from the predator. He dominated the octagon for the rest of the round.
Stipe with a slight shake of the head returning to his stool.
Round 2:
Now reluctant to chase another takedown Stipe needed to establish his striking, Joining N’Gannou in the centre for a high steaks game. A relaxed Francis due the strikes from Stipe and caused a flash knock down with a right, left combination. Once again Stipe was able to regain his feet and escape into space. He had to absorb more headshots for this freedom. Going backwards he did catch Francis with a solid short right, hoping to capitalise he moved forward and walked onto a short heavy left hook! Knocked down and out N’Gannou pounced and got one ground strike in before Herb Dean rescued him.
Revenge is a powerful motivator. All good things must come to an end. Stipe is 38 and simply could not trade with the bigger, stronger and younger N’Gannou. A great result for Cameroon, France, Xtreme Couture and Franncis!
