Leon Edward vs Belal Muhammad: Round 2, 0:18 No Contest
Disappointing all round.
Leon was cool and relaxed. Sharp counters and light on his feet. He was not troubled by Belal in the first round. However he was warned for having his finger extended. Early in the second Edwards lands another body kick. hidden behind a left jab. In the preamble to the kick the fingers of his outstretched hand made contact with Muhammad’s right eye. It was an awful unintentional foul. Belal knew before the kick landed that he would not be able to continue. It was the worst eye poke I can remember. I’m hoping that it does not have a lasting effect on Mohammad’s career. It was an even fight which was just swinging into Leon’s favour. The no contest suits no one!
Darren Stewart vs Eryk Anders: Round 1, 4:37 No Contest
Disappointing for Darren.
Stewart started brightly getting the better of the exchanges with the American. Late in the round Eryk finally caught Darren flush with a fist to the head. It looked dodgy for a time, but Darren recovering his position and crouched next to the fence; with the soles of his feet and a hand and a knee touching the canvas was a “downed opponent”. Anders was in full flow chasing the finish, but fired an illegal heavy knee to the head of the dentist! Herb Dean immediately stepped in. Darren was not in a position to continue and was unable to convince the doctor that he could. The encounter was declared a “no contest”. After Petr Yan, Eryk cannot say he did not know the rule. I think that the red mist had descended on Eryk. Very unfortunate it was a good fight and finely balanced at the time of the foul.
